Upcoming Events

Dress code: MDRC uniform or neat and tidy dress, with neutral coloured jodhpurs.

  • All attendees, support crew and spectators must sign in at clubhouse on arrival at grounds.

  • Riders/participants must wear approved helmets and flat soled riding boots.

  • Riders must wear a suitable body protector when participating in jumping activities.

  • Non-members must complete and sign a waiver of liability before riding.

  • Riders must help with setting up or putting away of equipment/jumps.

  • Registration to club events is non-refundable except if the event is cancelled or rescheduled, or upon presentation of a veterinary certificate or medical certificate. Committee reserve the right to charge an administrative fee when processing refunds.

Bernie Dall'Aglio Horsemanship Clinic

COME AND TRY horsemanship at McLaren Districts Riding Club grounds, under the guidance of Bernie Dall’Aglio...or just come to meet our club and check out the fabulous grounds available for members to use year-round.

​

With a focus on problem solving and building confidence, the morning session will be groundwork, with riding in the afternoon. Enter one or both.

​

  • Sessions will be 2 hours each 

  • Maximum of 5 participants per session.

  • $60 per session

  • $20 day membership for non-members, which is redeemable off the full price of membership if you apply for membership within 30 days of this event.

​

Learning off some of the best, Bernie has 30+ years of equine knowledge under his belt. Starting his career early as a farrier, then branching into all aspects of equine education in his early 20s. he likes all aspects of training, from foal handling, and weaning to starting their ridden careers and even re-education.

​

Bernie has been in and out of the rodeo arena over his career and is now back competing with his two sons. When he isn't busy with his young breakers, you'll find him learning new skills with his personal horses, including whip crack targets, obstacles, cross country, working with cattle, pack saddle & much more.

​

Come and Try Showjumping with Mal Maytom

We are thrilled to be hosting another jumping clinic with Mal Maytom, former International Eventer and FEI dressage rider. Mal is a popular coach with our members, with great feedback from his previous clinics at MDRC.


Heights will include:

  • Poles on the ground to 35cm

  • 35cm-45cm approx.

  • 50cm-65cm approx.

  • 65cm – 80cm approx.

​

Classes are limited to 4 riders maximum.

$30 each class 
$20 day membership for non-members, which is redeemable off the full price of membership if you apply for membership within 30 days of this event.

Derby Day - come and try - competition

Come and try our jumping course set in the rec grounds combining both show jumping and cross-country fences. There are approximately 15-18 obstacles on varied terrain, and include the bank, roll top, brush fence, and apex, plus show jumps.

The Derby Day provides a cross-training opportunity for both horse and rider, regardless of your equestrian discipline, and provides a safe venue for new competitors, green horses, as well as a schooling opportunity for the experienced competitor.

 

With 3 levels from: 35 - 50 cm, 50 - 65 cm, 65 - 80 cm, there are opportunities for everyone!

​

  • $20 per round for members, $25 per round for non-members.

  • $20 day membership for non-members.

  • All riders must wear an approved helmet, flat soled riding boots and an EA-approved body protector.

  • All horses must wear front boots.

  • Entry costs will be advised closer to the date.

​

Handy Horse Competition (Member's Only)

​We're pleased to offer club members the opportunity to come and try novelties competition.

​

​

This is an encourage event – all ages and abilities are welcome.

​

  • There will be 8 events with ribbons up to third place.

  • Events may include bending, flag and barrel, barrel racing, letter box, sack race, relay, sack toss

  • EA helmet tagging available for entrants and visitors

  • Sausage sizzle, cold drinks, chocolate bars, tea and coffee (cash only)

  • Second-hand tack sale – all items for a gold coin donation unless marked otherwise

  • All members are welcome to come down & use the grounds (excluding the competition area) for free

  • Spectators are welcome – come down to meet our committee and members and find out what our club has to offer

 

 

$5 per event or $25 for the day (unlimited) to compete.

Registrations not required - turn up and pay on the day.

Gates open at 9:00am. Payments will be taken until 9:30am, with the event starting at 10:00am.

Come and Try flatwork and jumping with Kylie Roesler

MDRC is pleased to have guest coach Kylie Roesler instructing at our May rally.


Kylie is an EA Level 1 and a PC Level 1 instructor. She specialises in rider position, and uses her background as a teacher to provide lessons that have recognisable outcomes for riders and their horse partners.


As a rider Kylie loves all styles of riding, having competed in Eventing, Dressage, Showjumping, Hacking and campdrafting. She has also participated in Hunting, Novelties and Jillarooing.

​

There are 2 possible disciplines, choose one or both:

  1. Flatwork

  2. Jumping

    

Each class is one hour.

  • 6 riders max per flatwork class, 4 riders max per jumping class

  • $30 each class 

  • $20 day membership for non-members, which is redeemable off the full price of membership if you apply for membership within 30 days of this event.

​

Member's Choice

Come and ride in our relaxed and supportive environment our mid-year "Member's Choice" rally day. Open to all ages and abilities - horses may be ridden or led.


Do flatwork or groundwork in the arena, round yard, or the rest of the grounds, use our poles and low showjumps, or have a go at some of our obstacles. Ride or just bring your horse for a look, and meet our committee and club members.

 

  • Find a bargain at our second-hand tack sale – all items for gold coin donation unless marked otherwise.

  • EA helmet tagging will be available from 9:30am to 10:00am.

  • Riders/participants must wear approved helmets, flat soled riding boots, and a suitable body protector if jumping.

  • Horses must wear front boots if jumping.

  • All attendees need to sign in on arrival and we ask anyone participating on the day to please help set up and pack away the equipment.

  • No charge for members – turn up on the day.

  • $20 day membership for non-members - this may be credited towards the full membership cost if you submit an application for membership within 30 days of this rally date.
